Announcing the Winners of the 9th Annual ISGAN Awards of Excellence

Award Winners 2023

On July 21, 2023, ISGAN, in partnership with the Global Smart Energy Federation (GSEF), announced the winners of the ninth annual ISGAN Award of Excellence, during a special ceremony at the 14th Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM) Meeting in Goa, India. Jean-François Gagné, the head of the CEM Secretariat presented the ISGAN Awards to the winning projects.

For the past nine years, the ISGAN Awards has highlighted outstanding achievements in the realm of smart grids. For 2023, the focus was “Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Smart Grid.” AI has a pivotal role in propelling grid modernization, ensuring dependable system operation, and seamlessly integrating clean energy sources.

Competition at a Glance
A wide range of smart grid nominations were received, representing projects from 8 different countries throughout the world. The winning projects were selected by an independent, international jury of smart grid experts, led by Reji Pillai Kumar, Chair of the Global Smart Energy Federation (GSEF). The jury selected the winning projects based on the following five criteria: potential impact, economic rationale, potential for replication & adaptation, innovation, and other benefits.

Luisa Matos, CIO/CPO and Co-founder of Cleanwatts, receives the top award for Cleanwatts’ project “FleXunity – Scaling-up Power Flexible Communities Business Models Empowered by Blockchain and AI Project.” Presenting the award are Luciano Martini, Chair of the ISGAN Executive Committee, and Reji Kumar Pillai, ISGAN Award jury chair and president of Indian Smart Grid Forum.
Sébastien Brun of Enedis S.A. in France receives the Runner-up award for their project “CartoLine – the New “Predictive Maintenance” Tool for ENEDIS
