The ISGAN 2025-2026 Annual Report highlights the International Smart Grid Action Network’s activities and achievements between March 2025 and February 2026. As electricity systems undergo rapid transformation driven by electrification, renewable energy integration, and the growing need for flexibility and resilience, the report showcases how ISGAN continues to strengthen international collaboration and support governments in developing smarter, cleaner, and more resilient electricity systems.
The report provides an overview of the latest trends shaping smart grids, including digitalisation, artificial intelligence, flexibility, interoperability, resilience, and long-term planning under uncertainty. It also presents ISGAN’s strategic priorities and the activities carried out across its six Working Groups to support evidence-based policymaking and accelerate the deployment of innovative smart grid solutions.
A major highlight of the reporting period was the continued development of the Lighthouse Project, ISGAN’s flagship initiative on the long-term planning and implementation of smart distribution grids. The report outlines the progress made through international webinars, workshops, the Knowledge Sharing Process, and the development of practical outputs, including a global casebook, policy recommendations, and the Knowledge Hub.
The report also reviews ISGAN’s active participation in major international events, including the 16th Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM16), where ISGAN organised the 11th ISGAN Awards of Excellence ceremony and a side event with KEPCO on distribution grid modernisation and DC solutions. It also highlights its engagement at COP30, where ISGAN experts contributed to discussions on power system transformation, renewable energy integration, and international cooperation.
In addition, the Annual Report summarises the outcomes of the 29th and 30th Executive Committee meetings held in Paris and Dublin, showcases new publications and Virtual Learning webinars, and highlights ISGAN’s collaboration with international initiatives and organisations, including the Mission Innovation Green Powered Future Mission (GPFM), the Global Smart Energy Federation (GSEF), ETIP SNET, and other IEA Technology Collaboration Programmes (TCPs).
