Policy insights
Synthesis for decision makers
Due to the wide variety of definitions and conceptual models of smart grid technologies and systems, the rapidly growing body of literature and analysis on the subject, and the rapid rate of change in the smart grid sector, decision-makers would benefit from a shared language and basis for discussion. To this end, this task draws on the knowledge and lessons learned from the other Working Groups.
This material can be delivered via various media, such as reports or videos, depending on the information and the intended audience. It can be structured for specific geographies or grid ecosystems. Ultimately, information packages that clearly and concisely explain the benefits and costs of smart grids while offering an intuitive and pleasing user experience will help capture the attention of these decision-makers and provide them with the information needed to advance more effective smart grid-enabling policies and programmes.
Objectives
The core objectives are to organise knowledge, identify key issues, distil important themes, and provide insightful analyses that will benefit policymakers.
The task highlights existing lessons learned and best practices on smart grids, seeking to integrate and present knowledge in a useful format for the target audience.
In summary, it consolidates and disseminates the efforts of other ISGAN Working Groups, as well as smart grid initiatives beyond ISGAN to maximise reach and impact.
